Occupational Therapy
Our occupational therapists evaluate the level of functioning and determine an individualized therapy plan. This therapy is implemented through exercises and routines that strengthen muscles that are necessary in daily

activities, such as dressing, eating, bathing, toileting, cooking, shopping and banking, transferring to a bed or tub, etc. PRC therapists improve patient skills to achieve independence in all aspects of their daily lives. We customize treatment programs to focus on the individual’s goals. Our therapists will get you ready to go home with vital skills on how to function with maximum independence and accomplish daily living tasks.
PRC has a full service ADL Suite, with a home-like setting. The ADL Suite is utilized to incorporate IADL training i.e. homemaking skills. We have a fully functional kitchen, laundry room, and bedroom with closet space. We have a bathroom area with portable items (tub, sink with vanity, and standard height toilet) to simulate the exact setup a patient has at home.

Speech-Language Pathology
Our Speech/Language Pathologists are trained in providing evaluation and treatment for patients with a variety of speech and swallowing disorders. They also perform VitalStim® Therapy, Modified Barium Swallow Studies, host a monthly Stroke Support Group, and are a U.S. Resource Center for Proloquo2go Augmentative Communication Devices.
VitalStim® - Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation Therapy is a new way to treat dysphagia (difficulty with swallowing) and is often used for patients who have neurological problems such as stroke or multiple sclerosis. This procedure safely retrains the pharyngeal muscles with neuromuscular electrical stimulation.
Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS) - When a patient is having difficulty swallowing, called dysphagia, the Speech-Language Pathologist will observe the patient while eating and may conduct an instrumental assessment of the patient's swallowing ability. This involves eating foods and drinking various consistencies of barium while the Speech-Language Pathologist watches an X-ray. After completing the MBS, a plan of treatment and diet recommendations will be determined.
