Cardiac Surgical Services

Since introducing open-heart surgery to the area in 1980, our surgeons and professional staff have performed more than 10,000 coronary artery bypass grafts – with excellent results, including off pump (beating heart) bypass surgery, introduced at
Memorial Heart Institute in 1998. Each year, our hospitals perform about 500 openheart surgeries, 300 balloon angioplasties, 2,000
cardiac catheterizations and 600 coronary stent implantations.

Using three fully equipped operating suites dedicated to cardiac surgery and one state-of-the-art Hybrid OR surgical suite, our Memorial Cardiovascular Institute cardiovascular surgeons perform:
• Coronary artery bypass surgery including off pump (beating heart) bypass surgery and minimally invasive surgery (keyhole)
• Repair and replacement of the mitral valve, including complex mitral valve repair
• Replacement of the aortic valve, including traditional and minimally invasive aortic valve procedures
• Surgical treatment for irregular heart rhythms, including atrial fibrillation
• Full array of thoracic and vascular surgical procedures
• Minimally invasive endovascular procedures
