Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center names Medical Director of Cancer Institute
(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.) -- T. Christopher Windham, M.D. F.A.C.S., has been named Medical Director of the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center Cancer Institute, effective immediately.
In his new role, Dr. Windham will oversee and strengthen the center’s ability to offer comprehensive cancer prevention to cancer patients in Volusia and Flagler counties, as well as research and implement the latest in cancer prevention and treatment in the community.
He will also chair the Cancer Physician Leadership Council and oversee, participate in and provide guidance for programmatic development, quality clinical care excellence and marketing strategies.
Dr. Windham will oversee and successfully execute the transition between the current Cancer Institute located at the hospital’s old facility in Ormond Beach to the new facility, set to open in early October, adjacent to the main hospital campus in Daytona Beach.
Dr. Windham will work closely with Debra Trovato, Director Cancer Institute, and with Ron Jimenez, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, who will provide oversight of his duties as Medical Director.
“Dr. Windham has a passion for multidisciplinary cancer care and we believe he is the best fit for the model of care our hospital is looking to build,” Trovato said.
Prior to joining the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center Cancer Institute, Dr. Windham was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Florida State University College of Medicine, Program Director for the Peritoneal Surface Malignancy Program and Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of South Florida College of Medicine at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center.
He completed a basic science oncology research fellowship at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX and a clinical surgical oncology fellowship at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.
