Family Practice Physician Joins Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center’s HealthCare Partners

Daytona Beach, FL (September 4, 2009) --- Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center is pleased to announce Hezi Cohen, MD, has joined the medical staff as a health care partner. Dr. Cohen is a board-certified family practice physician with more than a decade of experience treating patients.

Since 2001, Dr. Cohen has been affiliated with Florida Hospital while treating patients at his private practice, A Healthy Place, in Ormond Beach.

Dr. Cohen completed his residency in family practice, including emergency room medicine, at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach. He earned his medical degree from University of Miami, where he also received his undergraduate degree.

Elected chairman of the Department of Medicine for Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial, now Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Dr. Cohen also serves as associate medical director of Florida Hospital Hospice. He is on the faculty of the University of South Florida’s College of Medicine, where he is a clinical assistant professor. Additionally, Dr. Cohen is president-elect of the Volusia County Medical Society, a county delegate to the Florida Medical Association, and serves on the board of directors for the Florida Hospital Memorial Foundation. He is a member of the American Medical Association and American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Cohen’s research activities span many topics including osteoarthritis, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, asthma and prevention of the common cold. His broad experience allows him to enjoy the many challenges offered by family medicine.
