Hematologist/Medical Oncologist Joins Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center’s Comprehensive Cancer Center
(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ) -- Seema Harichand-Herdt, MD, has joined the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center Comprehensive Cancer Center as a hematologist and medical oncologist, adding her expertise to the services provided at the newly opened center in Daytona Beach.
Board-certified in Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Harichand-Herdt received her bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 2002. She completed a residency and fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine and was appointed to the faculty of the Winship Cancer Institute at Emory.
Dr. Harichand-Herdt comes to Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center after serving in the department of Hematology and Oncology at the Atlanta VA Medical Center where she treated patients with cancer and blood disorders.
Dr. Harichand-Herdt has been published several times on the topics of breast and lung cancer and has reviewed manuscripts for the International Journal of Women’s Health and Clinical Reviews in Oncology. Her research experience includes translational breast cancer and development of early phase clinical trials.
She has been recognized as an outstanding leader by the Graduate Medical Education Committee and received the Lubrizol Chemistry Award.
“My interest in oncology stems from my own personal experience, as my father succumbed to cancer. It is this insight into what patients and families are experiencing that drives my passion for delivering excellent and compassionate care, and for treating each patient as an individual,” Harichand-Herdt said.
