Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center Imaging Operations Manager Lisa Kelley published an article “Improving Satisfaction and Performance through Faster Turnaround Times” in the September/October edition of Radiology Management, a peer-reviewed, professional journal for leaders in medical imaging management.

Kelley’s article highlighted Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center’s Performance Improvement project focused on turnaround times. In her article, Kelley explains how the hospital increased patient satisfaction and improved the imaging department’s overall performance by decreasing a report’s turnaround time to less than two hours: from completion of the examination by the technologist, to a final signed report by the radiologist. Additionally, the hospital gained efficiencies and significantly reduced transcription costs through the introduction of voice recognition software.

Kelley was approached by AHRA, the Association for Medical Imaging Management, at the 2010 AHRA annual meeting in Washington, D.C. to write an article on this topic. An Ormond Beach resident, Kelley has worked for Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center for 12 years, and has been a manager for five years.
