ORMOND BEACH – On Tuesday, November 8, 127 community members came to Florida Hospital Oceanside, located at 264 S. Atlantic Avenue in Ormond Beach, for a free Flu Shot Clinic.
“We are so proud of these 127 local residents for being proactive in their health and preparing for this year’s flu season,” said Alex Heggblod, Florida Hospital Oceanside and Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center Director of Emergency Services.
According to the American Lung Association, one out of five Americans suffer from influenza every year. In addition, influenza and related complications result in approximately 226,000 hospitalizations in the US annually.
“The best way to prevent influenza and the related complications that can result from this disease is to get a flu shot every year,” said Joan Royal, Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center Registered Nurse.
Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center is part of the Florida Hospital Volusia/Flagler nonprofit hospital system with a mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ. In 2010, Florida Hospital Volusia/Flagler collectively contributed more than $107 million in benefits to the underprivileged, the community’s overall health and wellness and spiritual needs, and capital improvements.
